Cannot Open Internet Explorer?

ok so I cannot open internet explorer I get this pop up
Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?
it says program name is iexplore.exe and verified publisher: unknown, file origin:hard drive on this computer
its telling me to put my password to continue, but is it okay to put it? i searched on my phone and saw that it can be a virus?
by the way i use windows 7

    Internet explorer is just about the slowest browser. L2 use either chrome or firefox ( Although I prefer chrome )

    So far nobody has directly answered your question. IE never asks for a password when you run it. You may have a malware there. Time to scan using your antivirus. I hope it’s a decent one. Next, boot in safe mode with networking and run these two:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download…http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/mal…
    While your computer is scanning you may try resetting your IE by going to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset. Reset your HOSTS file too, just to make sure:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034
    Instructions on how to manually fix it is also there in case you can’t do it automatically.
    PS: Keep your OS updated.
