So, last night I was trying to put some songs on an SD card for my phone. I put the small card into the SD card adapter and put it into the SD slot on my laptop. I waited a few seconds and the folder for my SD card wasn’t showing up in the My Computer folder. I looked down and saw white smoke coming from the ports around the SD card slot. I took a pair of pliers and pulled out the SD card, shut off the laptop, and unplugged it. It’s not doing anything like that today so far. But I’m afraid to plug anything up to it. I’ve had this laptop for 5 years and haven’t had any problems with it other than viruses, but those are easy fixed problems (most of the time). What should I do?

Hi Christina;
Sounds like the card fried itself (Was it in correctly?), Put another SD card in and see what happens. If it is not recognized by the operating system and since it is 5 years old, it would not be worth repairing.
Sorry
Something’s fried. If I were you, I’d turn the thing off and get it to a repair shop (Best Buy) pretty quick. There’s a fire risk.
Take away his cigs and he will stop smoking
