Is It Safe To Have Kaspersky Ant-virus And Microsoft Security Essentials At The Same Time?

By mobile virus Posted in: phone virus

I go to NIU and I got two different answers on this situation so here I am on Yahoo answers. Anyway, I have a payed version of Kaspersky Anti-virus and a free Microsoft Security Essentials on my computer. The reason I have these bot is because my schools connects through a program called Cisco NAC agent and it accepts certain virus programs. It normally accepts Kaspersky but Kaspersky recently updated their software and Cisco isn’t updated to recognize the new version and wouldn’t let me on unless I downloaded Essentials or their McAfee. So, the first time I went in to their office, they told me to just download Essentials and turn it off since I’m not willing to get rid of the version I payed for. I called the ITS in my school and the guy on the phone told me that it could damage computer performance with two anti-virus programs. BUT, when I went in for the second time, he told me that it should be fine that I have both, as long as it’s turned off and still letting be online because they haven’t reported any problems with Microsoft Essentials and Kaspersky together. Is there a possibility of my computer being damaged in any way by this free program being on my computer at the same time but being turned off while Kaspersky is on? I only need it to connect to the internet right now.

I wouldnt recommend it, it can tend to conflict
From round 10 years experience, kaspersky is one of the most reliable and effeicent anti virus softwares, Kaspersky will be just fine by itself.
I would recommend removing Microsoft Essentials

Have one or the other two antivirus programs clash which mean both of the. Will stoo removing certain things meaning a virus could slip through id advise you to turn one off and one on as the conflicts between the programs could end up in more harm than good so only have one on

  3. Sterling Says

Not if they conflict with each other. Personally, I’d get rid of that worthless kaspersky and stick with Security Essentials. No matter what you use though, none of them are 100% effective at protecting you. Common sense should be your first line of defense.

Microsoft Essentials is enough. Their team is extensive and they update constantly. Having 2 running at the same time can make them fight each other and drastically affect the performance of your computer. Just stick with one.

I used to use multiple anti virus, but they conflict with each other and then therefore making it easier to pass by viruses. Microsoft has a great anti-virus. And is very extensive.

Should be no problem as long as you make sure one is off when turnng on the other.
