My Laptop Shut Off And It Will Not Turn Back On, How Can I Fix This?

By mobile virus Posted in: phone virus

I was playing on my computer earlier today, when it just shut off. At first, I assumed it was because it wasn’t plugged in all the way, but that was not the problem. So, I took the battery out, and put it back in. It still will not turn back on. I don’t think it overheated.
I really, really, really would love some helpful ideas with why it did this, and how I can personally fix this. I am a different computer right now. Same make, but different. I also tried to take this computers charger and put it into mine, thinking that maybe mine wasn’t charging completely. Still didn’t work.
Also, about a week ago, I had to get a new hard drive from Dell because I thought I had a virus and I reinstalled my windows vista incorrectly. I do not want to sit on the phone with Dell another 2 hours.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545.
Thank you everyone for your help, if you can help me.

First off, using another charger doesn’t always mean its not the charger because if its a different voltage or amperage, wattage in a sense, then it wouldn’t work. Your car won’t start, you replace the cars battery with a laptop battery, oh it doesn’t work still therefore its not the battery. Thats kind of the logic behind it.
As for the overheating, it could have. Though it wouldn’t NOT turn on after you let it cool off. If you reinstalled vista or any operating software incorrectly, then thats another big problem. Its as if you programmed a space shuttle to only fly but not to where.
    This is what I recommend.
    1) You clean out your laptop with compressed air. Make sure the vents are cleared and the fans are clean. Make sure its not on anything soft while in use such as beds, mattresses, pillows, etc.
Try to turn it on. If it doesn’t work, continue to read.
    2) You take out the battery, charger, and any USBs. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then replug everything. Then try and turn it on again.
If it doesn’t work, continue to read.
    3) Get a new charger. The correct voltage and amperage for your laptop and try it from there. It could very well be that the charger burned out and no longer powers a life-drained battery. I recommend http://www.topmic.com because they have free shipping, free lifetime warranty, and 30 days satisfaction or money back. Definitely a good store to purchase from.
If it doesn’t work, continue to read.
    4) Reinstall vista or any other operating system. You mentioned vista was installed incorrectly and thats a big thing. That itself can shut down your whole computer and not allow it to start up correctly.
If it doesn’t work, continue to read.
    5) If its still under warranty, send it back to the manufacture to let them have a look at it. They would fix it depending on what the problem is and etc. Its a case by case basis. If you AREN’T covered anymore, then take it to a computer repair shop and see if they can do it. I will be really surprised if all the solutions above don’t fix it.
    6) It also COULD be a internal issue. Motherboard died, loose connections from the HDD to the laptop, and more. Thats always a possibility you should keep in mind.
    Best of luck.

ah reinstalling Vista incorrectly, gotta be the issue. Is the drive plugged in correctly? It may be that simple, firm fit fully homed, and not worked its way loose? Don’t know who replaced it but even experts can make mistakes? Check all connections, battery, hardrive, memory, charger should be all firm snug fit, no sloppyness?

I have the same computer and a similar problem happened to me. I gave it to a family friend and he restored it for me. (not much help, sorry)
