What Do I Do If Someone Calls Me And Says Theres A Virus On My Computer And Then He Tells Me What To Do?

This Indian dude with accent called me a few hours ago saying theres a virus on my computer and it will cause it to crash. He gave me steps I followed abit and he told me to open run and type in echo or something.
Now Indians these days with accents in foreign countries take up jobs as telemarketers with phones and stuff and I think that was one of them. I hung up 2 times but he kept calling back. Should I report this to police or something or listen to him.
I am running scans on my computer and nothing but a cookie has shown up.

    Hey mate, First of all if anybody calls you and tell you to open Run Command, Or Registry Editor (regedit) or to go to you browser or network settings and allow Remote support, don’t do it
    The first Question should be did you type it into the run command.
    The “echo” command is a command line interface instruction that serves to repeat something. it could simply be something like echo “Hello” and when you press enter the next line would say
    Hello
    Get it.
    Now if he asked you to type an IP address that’s called social Engineering.
    These people are Phishing for your personal details, i’d backup my data if i were you , Just in case of spyware and/or viruses, You see your computer is protected but if your administrator account gives a 3rd party computer admin rights,
    it can then access and take control of your computer.
    eg. i could access your computer now. but i would need you to go to Remote desktop connection and set it to receive my port.
    But Why are you trusting some idiot on the phone, with your sensitive data,
    Why did you not ask yourself, How does he know, there is no virus, and if he states that he did a scan, ask him to prove it.
    Basically what your saying is that i could call you now, instruct you to type a command in your computer, and then what would happen is you would realise that your entire system is erased and formatted.
    if you fell for my call, it’s easy to do,i just takes one command and then press enter
    Mate please be carefull on the internet, their are some real idiots around.

    continue to talk with him and ask how do u know about my computer?
    by calling many times, he shows that it’s a serious matter and nothing to joke about. Tele marketers don’t naturally do that, they would just move on to another client
