diffferent file system/structure, there may be specific viruses for cells but i highly doubt and definetly not as popular as they are for a computer.
Most viruses are written to attack computers that run Microsoft Windows.
Few cell phones run Microsoft Windows.
The reason for this is basic: all of these electronics are built on different types of systems. I’ll break it down for you here:
First off, Windows is built on a DOS-based system (DOS stands for Disk Operating System). People have been making viruses for this system basically since it started. Windows utilizes the functionalities of DOS to this day, even in Windows 7 (notice how nothing has changed except looks since Windows 95 or XP, because the registry and disk defragmentation, etc. are still there). I would expect viruses are made to run on this system because it’s more popular; it is the standard in businesses and a lot of schools.
Mac is built on a UNIX system, which makes it entirely different than Windows in the respect of how it runs. Therefore, a virus made for Windows has no chance of running on a Mac because of the system upon which it is built – another reason why viruses hardly ever get onto Macs because it’d be tedious to start another collection of a million or more viruses for another system.
Same goes for cell phones, iPods, etc. – they are built on a whole new system, and you’d have to know the code in order to write a program for the device, and in order to make it harmful. Because that’s essentially what a virus is – a program that’s designed to do harmful stuff (virtually) to your computer or device.
